The Celebrate Glendale festivities are set to continue at the community owned Meanish Pier on Saturday 19th August, the famous Glendale shore and boat fishing competition for adults and children is taking place from 10am to 4pm will be followed Sea Food BBQ cooked by Three Chimneys Head Chef Scott Davies.
Having been forced to reschedule due to poor weather from the very successful Orbost Farm, Wild Boar Roast and community celebration held in July, the newly dubbed “Festival by the Sea” is set to build on celebrating Glendale as a place and its association with top quality local food and produce.
The Glendale Trust secured funds from the National Lottery which have been used to support a huge voluntary effort in organising, cooking and preparing for the festivities and activities. Almost all the businesses in the area as well as the many of the local producers have contributed to making the series of events such a success.
After the fishing competition prize giving were adults and under 16s can compete, local Glendale resident and Three Chimneys Head Chef, Scott Davies will be cooking locally sourced scallops, langoustines, oysters as well as the some of the catch from the fishing competition. Volunteers have again agreed to provide vegetarian options which will primarily be sourced from the suppliers of the Glendale Highland Market.
Speaking on behalf of the Glendale Trust Karen Redfern said; “It has been fantastic to see the community and businesses come together to celebrate Glendale. The Trust has been blown away with the effort and contribution of so many, the support from the local volunteers right through to the Three Chimneys at such a busy time of year is so encouraging and motivating. Hopefully the weather holds out for a great days fishing and we can look forward to celebrating Glendale and our association with high quality local food and produce. We look forward to welcoming everyone to our community owned pier area.
