Skye's towering Blà Bheinn mountain is one of three Scottish hills up for adoption.

To support the work of conservation charity the John Muir Trust lovers of wild mountain landscapes can adopt an acre of the well known peaks - or give it as a gift for someone this Christmas.

For £25 there is a chance to support the Skye hill as well as Ben Nevis and Schiehallion  with each gift sold helping the trust with its work which includes:

native woodland restoration to help enhance wild habitats for wildlife and plants

wildlife monitoring to support the regeneration of ecosystems

footpath maintenance to allow people to enjoy wild places and minimise human impact on the mountains.

The adoption pack can be personalised as a gift for Christmas or for any occasion.

Trust fundraiser Daisy Clark said: “The Adopt an Acre gift pack makes an ideal Christmas present for nature lovers, walkers or anyone who loves the outdoors. Each gift will care for an acre of mountain landscape for a year, helping to protect and restore native habitats for wildlife and plants, and keep paths in tip-top condition.”

Each Adopt an Acre gift pack contains:

an adoption certificate of the chosen mountain, with a personal message from the gift giver

information about the mountain and the conservation work the gift is supporting.

By adopting two or more acres on one mountain, the buyer can also choose to include a beautiful print of the mountain in their gift pack.
