Runners in the official first race of Skye and Lochalsh Running Club's Winter series were met with the icy blast of winter.

Hailstones greeting competitors in the three and six mile races held at Skinadin Forest by Broadford. The events were run on forest track, paths and some sections of old tarmac road.

Here's how the race was described by the club themselves: "Typical November weather greeted the 24 runners who took part – setting off into brilliant sunshine only to be met by a harsh hail shower within minutes of the start!

"The race at Sginadin is an optional 3 or 6 miles (one or two laps of the course).  The first mile includes a long climb, followed by an undulating path, a lovely long downhill then a gentle incline back to the start and the decision on whether to complete a further lap (and another battle with the elements).

In the three mile event Andrew Grieve, was first home in a time of 24.56, with Christina Schuman taking second spot in 25.40

The six mile race was won by Chris James, in 42.47 with Iona Craft coming second and first lady in 44.54.
