The skye times mobile

The tide may just have turned for Glendale's ambitious plans to make the most of a local community assest.

Little over a week after being told that the area had lost out in its hopes of obtaining funding to repair and extend the slipway at Meanish Pier along with installing a pontoon, locals have now been told that they have got planning permission to go ahead with the project.

However, before that can happen they will still have to source cash support.

Announcing the news, Glendale Local Development Officer, Elizabeth MacLeod said: "The Trust is delighted to anounce we have been granted planning permission to undertake the proposed work at Meanish Pier.

"This gives us permission to extend the slipway by 17.5 metres and install a pontoon once we secure funds.

"The granting of planning permission will also boost our chances of securing funding."
