Time is running out for any comments about how Skye's planning process will work in the future.
Noon on Friday 28 October is the final dates to have a say as the Highland Council continues preparing a new Local Development Plan for the West Highland and Islands area, to be known as WestPlan. WestPlan will be used to assess planning applications for future development, so it will affect how places grow and change over time.
From April 1st until June 10th 2016, the Council carried out a consultation on the first stage of WestPlan, known as the Main Issues Report. During the consultation some people suggested new sites that had not previously been considered for inclusion.
Others promoted alternative land uses on certain sites that had been included in the Main Issues Report or changes to the boundaries of sites. A small number of new Growing Settlements, Community Plan Settlements and Economic Development Areas were also suggested. These include, in particular, the Staffin, Uig and Sleat areas with Mallaig also identified.
The Council is now asking for people’s views on the new sites that the Council considers significant enough to merit further consultation. Details on these and how to comment can be found by following this link.
Additional information including the Main Issues Report and the previous comments are available through the Council's portal at http://consult.highland.gov.uk/consult/westplanmir/. For more information about the history of WestPlan, please visit our www.highland.gov.uk/whildp/
