October 14 was the last day of sailing this season for the original Glenelg to Skye ferry.

The 40 year-old vessel, MV Glenachulish, is the last manually operated turntable ferry in Scotland.

Skye Ferry Charity, The Glenachulish Preservation Trust, held a charity auction at the Caledonian Club, London earlier this month.  This effort raised £18,000 which will go towards replacing the wheelhouse of the MV Glenachulish.  These funds will help to maintain the vessel and the historically significant crossing to Skye.
