The final phase of the £1.25m improvements to the A87 on Skye gets underway next week bringing with it inevitable delays for drivers.
This time a 1.6 km section north of Kingsburgh will be affected bringing overnight works from Monday 17 October to Friday 28 October between 7pm to 7am.
Again due to nature of the resurfacing improvements, overnight road closures will be in place for safety. Local access and other traffic will be able to pass through the works by hourly amnesties.
These works will take place Monday nights to Saturday mornings, and avoid working Saturday and Sunday nights.
According to roads manager, Bear Scotland, the four projects have been designed to take place out with the peak tourist season and ahead of the winter months when weather can limit operations.
Commenting on the £1.25M investment for the A87, Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West representative said: “The investment from Transport Scotland will allow our teams to ensure the A87 continues to provide a safe and reliable route for motorists across the Isle of Skye.
“We’d encourage motorists to plan their journeys ahead where possible by checking the Traffic Scotland website for the most up to date journey information.”
