With just days left to go Loopallu has announced its final 2016 line up.

Ullapool hosts the big event on Friday 30th September and Saturday 1st of October 2016 with the festival more then doubling the population of the village for the weekend.

As well as the usual eclectic line up of acts appearing at the festival big top and the fringe events after hours in the village's pubs, the event will again provide a selection of fine food and drink from around the Highlands as well as the usual warm Ullapool welcome.

This year's line up includes  an appearance by one of  the finest home grown talents making  their Loopallu debut; FATHERSON.

A band that know all about the slow build. It’s there in the band’s backstory – they’re young men, barely into their twenties, but their tale together is old, stretching back into a shared childhood. And it’s there in the trio’s music – beautiful, emotional, uplifting, well-wrought songs that take their time to do their magic.
Fatherson have been striking a resonant chord with crowds at home in Scotland these past three, four years. Two singles, ‘Mine For Me’ and ‘I Like Not Knowing’, from the band’s 2014 self-released debut album, ‘I Am An Island’ secured national support and airplay from Radio 1’s Huw Stephens, Zane Lowe and Greg James. There was an unexpectedly packed-out show in the 12,000-capacity King Tut’s tent at T In The Park that same year. In November 2015 the band launched the first single ‘Always’ from their second album ‘Open Book’ (out now), securing further support at Radio 1, Radio X (Shock of the New) and Absolute amongst others.
Ross Leighton tries to make sense of the magic that occurs between this band, their music and their fans: “If you build a family around what you do, that seems to carry you along. I don’t want to be a rock star. I just want to sing tunes that are meaningful to us, and to people that need something meaningful. That’s all it should be.”

The bar tent sees the welcome return of RHYTHMNREEL, TWEED and the near legendary DAVY AND THE HOSEBEAST keeping things bouncing between the main stage changeovers.

Last, though by no means least, is the infamous Loopallu Late Night Fringe which kicks off after the main event and continues into the small hours if you’ve still the energy. This year expect to jump around to TORRIDON, THE NEW MADRIDS, THE ANDY GUNN BAND, GILL LANDRY from the Old Crow Medicine Show, WILL AND THE WILD HORSE, LITTLE MAMMOTHS, VIC GALLOWAY and LEWIS STEVENSON.

Already announced over the weekend are headliners Feeder and The Stranglers, The Wonder Stuff, The Selecter, Lucy Spraggan, Mark Radcliffe's Galleon Blast, Hunter and the Bear; Manran, Eliza and the Bear, ONR, Callum Beattie, The Van T’s, Lional and of course no Loopallu would be complete without our very own world champion Ullapool Pipe Band. Plus, in conjunction with Ullapool Book Festival we bring you debate, readings and the occasional song from the likes of Edwyn and Grace Collins, Miles Hunt, Mark Radcliffe and Vic Galloway.
