A "Marie Celeste" type rescue was the end result for Kyle's lifeboat crew today.
For after being called out to aid a yacht which had run aground they found...nobody on board!
It was 09.20am this morning that the RNLI crew were tasked, in difficult conditions, to investigate a yacht which had run aground on the North East coast of Longay.
Kyle Lifeboat arrived on scene at 09.44am and quickly put two crew members ashore to ascertain whether there were persons on board. With nobody found, and the boat in good condition and securely aground, the boat returned to station and was fueled and made ready for service by 11.20am.
It was later established that the 32ft yacht had broken from its moorings in Kyleakin and had astonishingly made its own way under the bridge and as far as Longay largely unscathed
