The skye times mobile
Blaze with Skye MRT

It’s hot off the press so why not get a copy quick?

Portree’s wonder dog, border collie Blaze, has once again been recruited to help a worthy cause, this time Skye Mountain Rescue and the new 2017 calendar featuring the dog that really loves to get to the top – of hills that is – is available to buy.

Blaze and owner Steve Miller are hoping to raise as much as £3,000 for the local volunteer rescuers but just how well they do depends on how many calendars are sold.

The all colour calendar shows Blaze , who has already climbed more than 80 Munros on some of the most scenic mountains Scotland has to offer.

Steve said:  “Our original intention was to have a 'Skye Only' selection of pics, but we really wanted to include Eilean Donan Castle which is, that opened up a whole lot more options.

“It was not easy, crunching lots of pics down to a final 12.

“At the last minute, we decided to change the front cover into the Gaelic as the months will be both 'in the tongue' and in English.”

Earlier this year Blaze made local news when he made the final of the VisitScotland  “Ambassadog” competition. However, it was back in 2014 that, again through his calendar that Blaze became known to thousands. Thanks to his 9,000 Twitter followers and the 90,000 on Scotland from the Roadside Facebook page, he raised £1,000 for Glencoe Mountain Rescue.

The calendar costs £8 and orders can be made via Paypal at address:-  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
