One of the new stills

The opening of Skye's first new whisky distillery since 1831 has moved a step closer.

Torabhaig at Knock Bay in Sleat is scheduled to be open to the public by next summer and now its intention to begin producing the first spirit by the autumn looks even more likely following the arrival of production equipment.

Installation is almost complete on 10 wash-back tuns and the handcrafted copper still which have been created in Morayshire by Forsyth's who have themselves been in business since 1890.
