A Dornie day centre has been temporarily closed by NHS Highland.
During the closure, which is understood to have been caused by staff shortages and long-term sickness, service users of the Airdferry Centre in Dornie have the option of being transported to An Acarsaid in Broadford – 17 miles away and across the Skye bridge.
Kate Forbes MSP said: “I recognise that this a very difficult time for users of the Airdferry Centre and their families.
“The centre was established in response to the closure of a previous care home and it is very disappointing that it has been temporarily closed.
“The risks of closure were raised with me during my summer tour of the constituency, and I have been in touch with NHS Highland.
“I know that there have been a number of meetings since the closure, but these should really have taken place before any decisions were made.
“Anybody who is worried and concerned is welcome to get in touch with me and I will continue to highlight their views to NHS Highland.”
