Local organisation, SkyeConnect, is in the running for an award at the 2019 Highlands and Islands Tourism Awards.
The organisation has been shortlisted in the Working Together For Tourism category.
During the judging period from June 2018 to June 2019, SkyeConnect coordinated the Scottish Government Strategy Group on tourism infrastructure in Skye, commissioned the first major visitor survey and tourism economic impact assessment since 2004, held a tourism conference -,“Skye on a Plate” - and a meet the buyer event - “New Season, New Suppliers” – as well as coordinating Skye’s presence at the VisitScotland Expo in Glasgow.
Chair of the SkyeConnect Board, Dave Till, is delighted with the nomination, stating: “This is a fitting reward for the passion, dedication and sheer hard work of our talented Board of Directors supported by our Project Manager, Alistair Danter.
"There is so much to do to ensure a sustainable future for our industry on Skye and to continually refresh and improve the visitor experience.
"It is only through ongoing collaboration with every business and public agency with an interest in Skye that we will achieve our goals. The nomination is a nice ‘pat on the back’ and will inspire us to work even harder for the island we love.”
The awards ceremony will take place on Friday 1 November at the Drumossie Hotel in Inverness.
