Members of the public can now contribute to a marine stranding database.
The Scottish Marine Animal Stranding Scheme (SMASS) has developed a new app, launched over the weekend (Saturday 27 July.)
Entitled Beach Track, the free app enables users to contribute information on shoreline pollution, stranded animals encountered and the cleanliness of coastal stretches.
SMASS say they hope the reports will help them to build a health map of Scotland's coastline, fill in knowledge gaps, direct beach cleans and improve understanding of the health of the waters.
The app can be found on the Google Play Store here.
The app is also available on the App Store here.
