An emergency beacon resulted in the launch of multiple rescue organisations today (Wednesday 1 May).
The beacon came from an aircraft and was activated around 9:30am from the vicinity of the Skye Bridge and Plock area.
No aircraft has been reported overdue and there is no indication of anyone being in difficulty, but the emergency response is continuing until the issue is resolved.
Senior maritime operations officer Jackie Mackenzie said: “Although we have no evidence that someone is in trouble, it is a distress beacon and we are carrying out an extensive search.”
HM Coastguard helicopter R948 from Stornoway, along with Portree and Kyle of Lochalsh Coastguard Rescue Teams and RNLI lifeboats are currently (12noon) searching the area.
As yet, nothing has been found and the search is ongoing.
