Primary and Secondary Gaelic pupils will have the chance to take part in a Gaelic creative writing scheme.

The Highland Council’s Gaelic Team is leading on the initiative called “Many Places, Many Stories”.

The workshops, run by writer Iain Finlay Macleod, will explore what ‘image’ means for the participants.

What images or pictures do pupils like? Which have affected them or others? What connects us to place? What images are precious, that we keep in our memory? From this exploration will come fiction, poetry or drama which explores what matters to the young people who are participating.

Iain Finlay Macleod said: “I’m delighted to be leading this scheme with Highland Council, it explores an interesting subject - ‘image’. I’ve seen a lot of great writing work come out of the Gaelic schools, creative and with a unique perspective, and I’m sure this work will add to that.”

Cllr Alister Mackinnon Chair of the Council’s Gaelic Strategy and Implementation Group said: “It’s important for young people to be assisted to think creatively especially when using their Gaelic language skills. I wish to take this opportunity to thank Bòrd na Gàidhlig for supporting this Gaelic creative writing initiative.”

Tha sgoilearan bun-sgoile agus àrd-sgoile Gàidhlig bho sgoiltean air feadh na Gàidhealtachd a’ faighinn cothrom na sgilean cruthachail aca a chur gu feum – le sgeama sgrìobhadh cruthachail Gàidhlig.

Tha Sgioba na Gàidhlig aig Comhairle na Gàidhealtachd a’ stiùireadh na h-iomairt air a bheil an t-ainm, ‘Iomadh Àite, Iomadh Sgeulachd’. Bidh na bùithtean-obrach, air an ruith leis an sgrìobhadair Iain Fionnlagh MacLeòid, a’ rannsachadh na tha ‘ìomhaigh’ a’ ciallachadh do na com-pàirtichean.

Dè na h-ìomhaighean no na dealbhannan a chòrdas ri sgoilearan? Dè an fheadhainn a tha air buaidh a thoirt orra fhèin no air feadhainn eile? Dè tha gar ceangal ri àite? Dè na h-ìomhaighean a tha prìseil, a ghlèidheas sinn nar cuimhne? Bhon rannsachadh seo thig ficsean, bàrdachd no dràma a tha a’ sgrùdadh na tha cudromach do na daoine òga a tha a’ gabhail com-pàirt.

Thuirt Iain Fionnlagh MacLeòid, a tha a’ stiùireadh nan seiseanan: “Tha mi fìor thoilichte a bhith a’ stiùireadh an sgeama seo le Comhairle na Gàidhealtachd agus e a’ sgrùdadh cuspair inntinneach: ‘ìomhaigh’. Tha mi air sgrìobhadh sgoinneil fhaicinn a’ tighinn a-mach à sgoiltean Gàidhlig – sgrìobhadh cruthachail le sealladh àraid – agus tha mi cinnteach gun cuir an obair seo ris a sin.”

Thuirt an Comhairliche Alasdair MacFhionghuin bho Bhuidheann Ro-innleachd agus Buileachaidh na Gàidhlig aig a’ Chomhairle: “Tha e cudromach do dhaoine òga cuideachadh fhaighinn gus smaoineachadh gu cruthachail, gu h-àraid nuair a tha iad a’ cleachdadh nan sgilean cànain Gàidhlig aca. Bu toil leam an cothrom seo a ghabhail gus taing a thoirt do Bhòrd na Gàidhlig airson taic a chur ris an iomairt seo airson sgrìobhadh cruthachail Gàidhlig.”

Tha an sgeama air a mhaoineachadh le Bòrd na Gàidhlig.
