A section of the railings on Bank Street has been knocked down.
The telescope overlooking the harbour has also been damaged.
The area immediately surrounding telescope and railings has a temporary barrier.
A spokesperson for Highland Council told Skye Times Online that they have no knowledge of what happened and no one had reported having caused the damage.
They continued: "As soon as our team were made aware, they arranged to put out the temporary cones."
It is unknown when repair work will commence.
