Firefighters are currently battling a blaze near Edinbane.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service received reports of a wild fire just after 11am today (Wednesday 24 April.)
Six fire engines were sent to the scene.
A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service told Skye Times Online: "The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 10.55am on Wednesday, April 24 to reports of a wildfire on the Isle of Skye.
"Operations Control mobilised six fire engines to the Struan area of the island, where crews were met by a fire which had taken hold of a section of heath and forestry.
"Firefighters currently remain on the scene working to extinguish the fire."
The road is currently smoke-free but the battle to fight the flames is still ongoing.
