A female walker was hoisted to safety by helicopter during a rescue mission on Skye.

Local mountain rescue members, like their counterparts in the RNLI, found themselves in big demand this week during a series of call outs culminating in an incident at the Quiraing, when the Coastguard were also involved.

According to police there were incidents at both the Fairy Pools and Glenbrittle on Tuesday (Aug 16) during the course of the day before the airlift operation after 5pm

Skye Mountain Rescue were called to the Quiraing after other walkers raised the alarm. The female walker, in her early 20’s, was located and rescuers were then able to utilise the services of the helicopter crew to get her off the hillside and medical attention.

Her injuries are not thought to have been serious.
