Armadale's petrol station, post office and shop will soon undergo redevelopment.

The current wooden shed and portakabin housing the shop, petrol station and post office will be replaced with a new building that will provide a larger floor space for the shop.

Sleat Community Trust say they will be able to expand the shop's range of goods and have a dedicated post office counter as well as integral storage.

The Trust say work is not likely to start until September or October.

As well as redeveloping the shop, petrol station and post office, the project will see the redevelopment of the Trusts offices in Faoilinn Cottage making a more effective base for the Trust to manage its business.

Funding has been approved by a number of organisations including SSE, The Robertson Trust, HIE, Leader, The Regeneration and Capital Grant Fund and the Trust will be contributing proceeds from the sale of 4 plots of land for housing at Capistal. Two of these plots for sale are sold, subject to successful planning permission and the other two are classed as affordable plots and are being sold through the Highland Small Community Housing Trust.
