Entrants in the Taste Local Food Awards are a step closer to hearing the competition results, following a judges' meeting this evening (Wednesday 6 February.)
Nominations for the local awards closed on 22 December and 21 finalists have been announced.
The six judges who met to decide the winners, Roger Whiddon, Rachael Jackson, Glenys Maclean, Nanette Muir, Alistair Wilson and Anthony Hovey, told Skye Times Online they were delighted with the quality of entrants using local produce. The winners will be announced at the Taste Local Awards Ceremony later this month.
In the category of Best Restaurant, the finalists are Edinbane Lodge, Loch Bay and Red Roof.
In the category of Best Restaurant With Rooms, the finalists are Coruisk House, Stein Inn and Ullinish Lodge.
In the category of Best Cafe or Coffee Shop, the finalists are An Crubh, Beth's Deli and Cafe and the Isle of Skye Baking Company.
In the category of Best Community Cafe, the finalists are An Crubh and Open Door Cafe.
In the category of Best Pop Up, Food Event or Takeaway, the finalists are Buth Bheag, Carter's Cabin and Glendale Highland Market.
In the category of Best Hotel, the finalists are Cuillin Hills Hotel, Duisdale Hotel and the Plockton Hotel.In the category of Best B&B or Guest House, the finalists are Coruisk House, Hillstone Lodge and Sea Drift B&B.
In the category of Best Retailer, the finalists are Beth's Deli and Cafe, An Crubh and Buth Bheag.
In the category of Best Pub, the finalists are Seamus' Bar, Stein Inn and the Old Inn.
In the category of Best Newcomer, the finalists are Beth's Deli and Cafe, Edinbane Lodge and Gasta at Armadale Castle.
The awards ceremony will take place at Sligachan Hotel on 27 February from 12pm until 3pm.
