A Skye resident is campaigning to purchase a boat to help her fight litter on the island coastline.
Surfers Against Sewage representative, Gill Houlsby, told Skye Times Online that the geography of Skye means many affected areas cannot always be reached by road or on foot.
Gill is aiming to raise around £2000 to purchase the beach clean boat. Gill told Skye Times Online: "Skye is known for its incredible rugged coastlines and natural beauty. These shores are sadly increasingly covered in plastic."
The fundraising campaign will close on 23 February at 12pm.
Once obtaining the boat, Gill said that anyone can contact her to request the boat at a beach clean, or to identify an area of coastline that needs attention. Gill stated: "Removing litter from Skye’s coastline prevents damage to wildlife, livestock and negative impacts on tourism; all factors relating to many of our livelihoods. The great thing about this project is that it benefits all living beings on the island and cleaner coasts are something everyone can enjoy."
