Faye Macleod of Portree and Braes Community Trust SCIO was interviewed yesterday (Thursday November 1st) by BBC ALBA  about the trust's plans to deliver improvements to Portree harbour.

The interview follows the launch last month (October 2018) of a vision document which set out the trust’s ideas for greater community involvement with the management and facilities offered by the harbour.

The document states: “Our vision is to create a vibrant maritime portal to Skye, retaining the essential nature of Portree harbour as a picturesque fishing, commercial and leisure hub. The sustainable plan integrates community ownership and phased transition to full local control with sensitive commercial development and publicly funded strategic infrastructure.”

Members have been investigating how other community trusts have successfully delivered large-scale, community-led harbour regeneration projects and now want to share their vision.

The document, "A Vision for Portree Harbour 2018" is available to read or download at https://www.portreeandbraes.org/portree-harbour.

The interview is available today (Friday November 2nd) on BBC Alba.
