A wildlife cameraman who has worked on The Blue Planet and Planet Earth will be heading to Skye as part of a tour.
Doug Allen will share behind-the-scenes stories in his entertaining and informative show. He will also highlight the most challenging assignments of his 35-year-long career that has seen him film wildlife on the Arctic and the deep oceans.
Born in Fife, Doug Allan spent seven years in Antarctica as a scientist, research diver and photographer for the British Antarctic Survey, before changing direction to full time freelance filming in 1983.
Since then he has become one of the world’s best known and respected cameramen, specialising in natural history, expeditions and science documentaries. He has worked for the BBC, Discovery, National Geographic and many others, filming for series including Human Planet, Frozen Planet, Ocean Giants, Operation Iceberg, Wild Cameramen at Work, and Forces of Nature with Brian Cox.
Copies of Doug’s book Freeze Frame will be on sale, as well as his colour prints of polar bears, penguins and seals.
Doug will be appearing at the Aros Centre in Portree on October 14 at 7:30pm.
