Uig will today (Friday August 3) see a lot more ferry activity than usual - as ferry firm CalMac diverts its Isle of Lewis ferry from the Castlebay-Oban route to travel via Skye

This is a result of "a technical issue" with a linkspan in Oban that CMAL are working with their suppliers to fix.

And this will mean significantly more traffic along the main road to Kyle of Lochalsh and beyond

So today's Minch excursion for travellers from Barra started with…

Depart Castlebay 08:00

Arrive Uig (Skye) 12:15

The vessel will discharge the Barra traffic and remain at the berth until approximately13:00 when she will move off to allow MV Hebrides in with the scheduled Lochmaddy - Uig service, and to depart at 14:10 with the scheduled Uig - Tarbert service.

MV Isle of Lewis will then berth again at Uig and load for Barra,

Depart Uig 14:45
Arrive Castlebay 19:00

Any customers with onward travel requirements from Uig are being asked to advise CalMac staff at Castlebay office or when on the ship at sea who will advise Uig port.]

Any intending foot passengers from Oban are being requested to present at the Oban terminal no later than 10:00 and transport to Uig will be provided.
