This week brings the final build up for the annual Skye Agricultural Show.
Saturday 13 August will once again see the King George V Park in Portree transformed with a packed programme ranging from four legs to two wheels.
The main attraction of the year – besides the stock competitions – will be Scotland’s premier cycle stunt team, The Clan. Performing since 2008 they have amazed over 500,000 people live and enthralled a TV audience of over 10 million people, from BBC Children in Need and prime-time ITV shows, to performing at the Olympics and small community galas across the UK.
Livestock judging begins at 10am with this year’s Horse Section followed by the Cattle and Sheep starting at 1-0.45am. The Poultry judging will be at 1.45pm.
Other events will be;
11.30am – Pipe Band
12.30 & 3.30 – The Clan
1.30 – Strongest Person Competition.
2.30pm – dog Show
3pm – Tug of War
4pm – Raffle and Presentation of Cups.
Also taking place during the day will be a Farrier demonstration, chldren’s activities, craft stands, food stalls and a shearing demonstration.
Show Chairperson, Seumas Maclean in this year’s programme, said: The Skye Agricultural Show is a fun day for all the family and an important event in the social calendar of farmers and crofters in the area.
“We always welcome members of the community and visitors not connected to crofting through the gates as there is always something to please everybody!”
