One of the best pipers of his generation, Roddy MacLeod MBE, has taken his seventh victory in the prestigious Silver Chanter competition.

Highly regarded as a teacher, recitalist and adjudicator, uniquely, he is a Grade 1 Championship winning Pipe Major and a four time Glenfiddich World Solo Piping Champion and in 2012 was inducted into the Scottish Traditional Music Awards Hall of Fame.

Staged at Dunvegan Castle the Silver Chanter event, now I its 50th year, honours tunes written by the Chief's personal pipers, the MacCrimmons. Roddy played “Lament for Patrick Og MacCrimmon”

Roddy's seventh victory, follows wins in 1989, 1998, 1999, 2007, 2008 and 2009. No one has won the award more times than him

Throughout his career as a piper Roddy has become renowned for his sound and this phrase “Renowned for Sound” has become a strap-line for his new range of RJM pipe chanters. With years of experience as a top level Grade 1 Pipe Major and as an elite solo piper, Roddy in partnership with David Naill & Co. Ltd. has designed and crafted each chanter to suit the differing requirements of the pipe band and of the solo player
