One man will begin the challenge of running across 10 islands in 48 hours.
Alistair Macpherson will undertake his 10 Island Challenge in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
He will start tomorrow (Friday 4 May) at Vatersay and then run across Barra, Erisky, South Uist, Benbecula, Grimsay, Berneray, North Uist, Harris and then on to Skye. In total he will cover almost 120 miles.
Alistair MacPherson, a former resident of Skye, is no stranger to raising money for cancer charities with this latest adventure being his fourth fundraising event for cancer charities.
Speaking ahead of his fundraising event, Alistair said: “Macmillan is very close to a lot of people’s hearts in the wonderful work they do, especially in the highlands and islands. It will be a privilege to do this event for Macmillan and I hope to raise thousands of pounds.
“I won’t be alone on this adventure as I will have a huge support team behind me helping me every step of the way and we will be filming the whole journey along the way.”
Fundraising manager for the Highlands & Islands, Christina Brockman-More said: “I can’t thank Alistair and his vast support team enough for the effort they are putting in to raise money for Macmillan. It really is a huge operation and I am really looking forward to seeing Alistair cross the finish line in Skye.
“Macmillan relies on people like Alistair to do challenges like this to raise money so that we can continue to provide vital services for people living with and beyond cancer.”
