Skye Games takes to the water this week-end with the annual Dinghy Regatta.
With the main Highland Games events taking place on Wednesday, the sailing is on Saturday, (30th July), in Portree bay and with new boats and new sails the organisers, Skye Sailing Club, are confident it will be a great success.
A spokesman said: “Any Member at RYA Level 2 or above that is confident enough they will not crash into others can take part in one of the Club's boats. We do not want to exclude anyone so will try and make it work for you.
“And, after a small adaptation to the day's plan. it is now possible to race on your own or with a crew for the morning and still keep your points when you switch boats or crew in the afternoon – it could get complicated but we think it will work – you have to decide all morning on one boat or team and all afternoon on another boat or team but you have some flexibility.
“If you are not a Skye Sailing Club Member, come along with your own dinghy! If it has a 2016 PY rating you are welcome to join in!”
The timetable for the day is:
9.00am boat allocation and set up.
10.00am first race
1.00pm lunch (bring a picnic)
1.45pm back out on the water
2.00pm afternoon races begin
4.30pm ashore and clear boats
5.00pm final results and trophy announcements
The winners will be presented with their trophies on Games Day (3rd August) on the Lump in front of thousands
