Further ice warnings affecting Skye, the Western Isles and Highlands have been issued by the Met Office: Yellow warning: Ice between Thursday 28th 15:00 and Friday 29th December 12:00

Icy patches are expected to develop on Thursday night and Friday morning on some untreated roads and pavementss, as well as where showers continue to fall washing off treatment. Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces are possible.

Showers of rain, sleet and snow are expected on Thursday night before largely dying out on Friday morning. The extent of ice will vary across the area with inland areas most prone whilst coastal areas exposed to the northerly winds are less likely to be affected. 1 or 2 cm of snow may accumulate above about 100 m.
