Police on Skye are appealing for witnesses following the theft of civil engineering equipment from a compound in Staffin.

Approximately seven 3m long push pull props, which looks similar to scaffolding and a number of 3m lengths of wood were removed from a site on the Quiraing road.

The items were to be used in the construction of waters tanks and would have required a van or another large vehicle to move them.

They were removed from the construction site sometime between mid-October and Friday 27 October.

Constable Lesley Campbell said: "We are keen to hear from anybody who has seen a person or a vehicle acting suspiciously around the Staffin area during this period of time.

"We would also ask anyone who has received anything they believe to be suspicious for sale to get in touch as soon as possible.

"Anyone with any information is requested to contact police in Portree on 101, using reference NP10052/17.

"Information can also be passed anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
