The skye times mobile

Kyle Lifeboat crew went to the aid of a man in a rigid-inflatable boat (RIB) in Lochalsh.

The RIB had run out of fuel on Monday 16 October.  The man was alone on board and was unsuccessful in getting a VHF (radio) reception to contact the coastguard.  His mobile phone also proved to be out of action.

He pressed the emergency button on his VHF, which sent an automatic mayday message to the coastguard.  He also set off a flare.

Kyle Lifeboat was launched and towed the RIB safely into Kyleakin Harbour.
