The skye times mobile

Nearly 40 classic cars will shortly be touring through the Isle of Skye.

The cars gracing the roads include a Jaguar XK8, Triumph TR5, Jaguar E-Type, Aston Martin DB7, Jaguar MK 2, Porsche Boxter S and a Morris Minor.

The "Haggis Trail" trip, organised by Country Lanes Tours, will take drivers through the Western Isles, and North 500, after starting from Penrith.

Participants hail from the UK, Australia, Monaco and the USA.

Saturday 9 September will see the drivers gather in Penrith before heading to Arran and then Mull, Skye, Harris and Lewis.

The drivers will be on Skye on Thursday 14 September and spend their time enjoying a leisurely day, with a short circular tour of the lower part of the island and a visit to the Talisker distillery.

The following day will see them drive up to Uig in order to make their way to Tarbert.

Country Lane Tours does not usually run a support vehicle on UK events but, in view of the remoteness of some of the areas and roads there will be one this time.  As the group will be travelling to remote locations, they will on some occasions be split up.

The entire tour will take place from September 9 to September 22.
