Portree Primary youngsters have made it to footballing finals.
The local youngsters will take on counterparts from five other schools from across Scotland in this year’s Cuach na Cloinne competition which will take place on June 7.
In recent weeks, 50 teams from 28 schools across the country have been participating in regional competitions for the event which creates an opportunity for young people who attend Gaelic Medium Education to meet and compete against each other. The aim is to combine their Gaelic linguistic and footballing skills in an inclusive and entertaining manner.
Donald MacNeill, Ceannard of Comunn na Gàidhlig, who organise the competition said, “It is an absolute joy to see so many young people playing with and against each other in events which they are obviously enjoying. It is also a matter of great encouragement to see the numbers participating increasing year on year. We had more teams taking part in this year’s competition than ever before. I want to record my gratitude to the sponsors of Cuach na Cloinne, without whose assistance the competition wouldn’t happen.”
The big shoot out itself takes place at Bunsgoil Ghàidhlig Loch Abair.
