Skye Sailing Club was formally presented with the RYA Scotland Club of the Year award on Saturday May 13.

James Allen, RYA Scotland's Chief Executive Officer, attended the Skye Sailing Club's RYA Push the Boat Out open day to present the award to Commodore Hugh MacDonald.

During the Friday evening, James Allen delivered RYA Scotland's big plan for sailing nationally to current members and those from the past who came to reacquaint themselves with today's set up after having worked to form the Portree based facility of more recent years.

Every boat at the sailing club was on the water for RYA Push the Boat Out as Members welcomed all-comers to join them to see Portree from a whole new perspective – from a sailing dinghy.

By the time those assembled drifted home over 30 had been on the water - many for the very first time.  New Memberships were taken up and one adult beginners sailing course sold out.  Plans are in hand to schedule in additional course dates and anyone that missed the sailing tasters on the Saturday can email This email address is being protected from spambots.
