A micro-hydro electric installation proposal has been submitted to the Highland Council.

The plans concern the area of Gesto, Struan.  Pictured above is the general site layout.

It is hoped to extract water from the Allt Na Cnodaich via an intake structure.  The water will then be transported to a shed containing a turbine, generator and ancillary equipment.

The electrical energy produced will be exported to a nearby metal grid connection, and the water will be returned to the watercourse.

Other applications submitted to the Highland Council on Tuesday 2 May include an application for the erection of signage for Ronald Macdonald Photography, located at Park Road, Portree.
