The sale of three house sites in the south of Skye could help fund various community developments.

Last November, Sleat Community Trust consulted with the community regarding the sale of house sites.  The majority of those attending the consultation agreed in principle to the house sales.

The sites are located on the land forming part of Tormore Forest, beside the public road to Aird.  Currently, they are at the Planning in Principle stage with Highland Council.  Planning applications will be advertised by the Council in due course.

The sales will help to raise capital to invest in redevelopment of the community-owned shop, Post Office and petrol station at Armadale.  The Trust also hopes to address the debt burden of its ongoing loan commitments.  They state: "Addressing this issue and moving the redevelopment of the Armadale site forward will be a major step in making the Trust more resilient and self-sufficient, as well as guaranteeing the retention of lifetime services and facilities for the benefit of the wider community."

Sleat Community Trust is still considering creating more affordable housing opportunities on the community-owned site at Armadale as part of the wider redevelopment.
