Kingsburgh Quarry could reopen, if the request sent to the Highland Council on behalf of MacDonald Groundworks Limited is successful.

In their submission to the Highland Council, their formal request asks for a screening opinion on the recommencement of stone extraction to take place in Kingsburgh Quarry.  They are also seeking to extend the existing quarry.

MacDonald Groundworks Limited already operates Kyleakin Quarry.

If they are given the go ahead, the Quarry could see extraction and haulage operations taking place from 7:00am to 7:00pm from Monday to Friday, as well as work taking place from 7:00am to 4:30pm on Saturday.  Maintenance and specific projects would be scheduled on Sundays from 7:00am to 4:30pm.  However, the Quarry would not be in operation all the time, but only when materials are required for local projects.
