Skye's favourite ferry was today (Apr 10) getting busily back to what it does best.

After an £80,000 refit during which the original wheelhouse was replaced with a state of the art new one, new electrics and steering mechanism the Glenachulish is now better equipped then ever for its to and fro trade between Glenelg and Skye.

Today the ferry company said: "A fantastic job has been done in Kishorn, we now have a new and modern traditional wheelhouse which is state of the art ,on the electronic side with GPS, not that we're under any illusions as to where we're going."

Other improvements and upgrades include a rudder indicator, inverter, modern vhf, deck lights, wheelhouse lights, Search Light and new mast.
