Police in the Highlands are warning retail staff to be on their guard following an incident of counterfeit currency being tendered within the Inverness area.

At about 5.00pm on Wednesday April 5, 2017 two young males entered the Co-op store in Wester Inches, Inverness and purchased items separately costing no more than £5 and paid with Bank of England £50 notes.

One male is described as about 12 years old, slim build, white, 5ft 32, short brown hair wearing a dark grey jacket and jeans.

The second male is described as about 15-16 years old, slim build, white, 5ft 7", short brown hair wearing a grey Adidas fleece jacket.
