Two Sleat artists and a third from Plockton are off to the States to show off their skills.

Aird based Heather McDermott, reknowned for her jewellery, together with potter Patricia Shone of Ardvasar and Gilly Langton, whose jewellery business is based in Plockton, leave later this month to exhibit in the prestigious American Craft Show in Baltimore.

They will be part of a party of 15 Scottish artists who have been invited over to American after trade organisation Craft Scotland made an  agreement with the American Trade Craft Council to showcase the work between February 20-24.

Fiona Logue, director of Craft Scotland said: "Scotland has a rich heritage in craft making and what is particularly exciting is how that influence makers workin g in Scotland today.
