Staffin Community Trust have confirmed they will  soon be advertising to recruit a new member of staf to manage its ambitious Skye Ecomuseum II project.

The full-time post is a new job, which will be funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) until September 2019 and will be in addition to the local development officer’s role currently carried out by Hugh Ross.

SCT is hoping to advertise the job within the coming weeks, once it gets the official project permission to start from HLF. The successful candidate will manage the project, with particular emphasis on the activity programme.

The HLF awarded a grant of more than £500,000 last September to build a viewing platform at Lealt, new footpaths, interpretation, a new website and a packed activities programme which will include working closely with Skye primary schools, local businesses, a walking festival, guided walks, health walks, archaeological workshops etc.

SCT has now secured planning permission from Highland Council to build the viewing platform at Lealt Gorge and additional parking.

Recently it applied to the Coastal Communities Fund for the final tranche of money required for the capital works and will find out in March if that has been approved.
