A Skye man, once acknowledged as the world’s most tattooed person, has died.
Thought to be around 80 years old, Tom Woolridge, passed away at an Inverness nursing home.
Known as the Leopard Man of Skye, Tom was reputed to have spent over £5,000 on his body art yet for 20 years lived in a remote bothy on the Kyleakin shore with only a roof of plastic and metal sheeting to protect him.
Without electricity or other modern aids he would kayak to Kyle once a week for provisions and lived his remote lifestyle until 2008 when he finally moved to a one bedroomed house in Broadford.
At that time he was quoted as saying: "I'm getting too old for that kind of life."
The former special forces soldier, who was also known as Tom Leppard added: "I've loved every minute and when you're covered in leopard tattoos you certainly get noticed - I became a bit of a tourist attraction on Skye."
