Braes Community Hall looks set to earn a reprieve after locals campaigned to keep it as an election polling station.
There was anger after residents realised that they might have to travel to a school in Portree to vote under proposals being cosidered by Highland Council designed to save money.
As reported in The Skye Times there were also fears that those without access to transport would be unable to take part in elections and concerns about lost funding for the hall.
Now after rumours began circulating a Highland Council spokesperson said: "No decision can be confirmed yet – We need to wait until the Polling Places review is complete and the new scheme is agreed by the Community Safety, Public Engagement and Equalities Committee.
"But the Election Manager will be proposing to leave Braes due to its location."
Meanwhile, the overall review of the plans is continuing and those with comments have until Friday 20 January to submit them.
