Do you know a young person who would benefit from this opportunity? This training programme will also help local communities to build capacity and make the most of their community centres.
GET IN is a free and fun project which brings young people together from across the Highlands and Islands to learn to promote events and ultimately organise a tour of a live performance to their communities.
The Touring Network’s year-long Youth Promoter project provides young people aged between 16-26, who live in the Highlands & Islands, with the training, knowledge and expertise required to programme the live events they want to see in their communities.
Please take a good look at the web page by following the link below to see what we have accomplished with Year 1 Youth Promoters and what is in store for next year. We now have a super online application form on the GET IN webpage where you can direct young people in your community to APPLY NOW !
If you know of someone who would rather access the application form in a different format then I am happy to support over the phone or send a paper copy.
Applications are now open for the GET IN Youth Promoters Year 2 training scheme and the closing date is Monday 30th January. Places will be confirmed by Fri 4th February.
ALSO - please keep an eye out an announcement of the Year 1 GET IN Youth Promoters tour performer and dates coming to a venue near you soon....
The first core group of 8 young promoters live throughout the Highlands and Islands, from Forres in the East to Achiltibuie and Skye in the North West and Islay in the South West. The young people trained by The Touring Network and have helped carve a pathway for others. They have overcome barriers such as transport and access to digital communications getting to know each other to work towards promoting a tour of live performance.
They have had to learn a lot and work as a team, with four subgroups to organise and manage a budget to tour a performer that they all agreed to promote. No mean feat as they all have varied tastes and experience in live performance. They have all committed to the project so much that the majority of them are offering to volunteer as Youth Promoter Buddies to support the new Year 2 intake in spring.
